Route of the dolmens of Debabarrena.

The route of the dolmens takes us into an epic space, the Karakate and Irukurutzeta mountain range. From here, in addition to enjoying some of the best views of all Euskadi we will have the opportunity to see the dolmens, burial mounds and menhirs that our ancestors built as burial sites or territory delimitation. In order to contemplate this wonder of nature we must reach the Alto de Ubal and from there make a nice family route. Are you up for it? The negative point of this family route in Euskadi is found when it comes to parking. And it is that we must indicate that in the Alto de Ubal there is no space where we can leave our vehicles. Nor in the vicinity. So we are forced to improvise parking spaces on the sides of the concrete track that connects the Alto de Ubal and cattle ranches.

Belaustegi beech forest.

The waterfall and the beech forest of Belaustegi represent 2 of the natural jewels of Euskadi. Spaces of great natural wealth, which, located in Orozko, in the heart of the Gorbeia Natural Park, invite us to enjoy nature with the family. The first of them, the beech forest, is located next to the forest track that starts from the parking lot created by the Gorbeia Natural Park. Uguna waterfall.

The Uguna waterfall, one of the most striking of the Gorbeía Natural Park, invites us to make a short route from the Saldropo Wetland to this beautiful waterfall. We must mention that the last part of this route has narrow sections, with a certain slope and very slippery. Especially in winter. Be very careful. Delika Greenway.

The Senda Verde de Delika is one of the last routes that the Provincial Council of Araba has prepared. A family route, which takes us to know the Delika Canyon and the Salto del Nervión. Route to the viewpoint of the island of Zuaza.

The viewpoint of the island of Zuaza, also known as San Juan Punta, offers one of the most spectacular views of the Ullibarri Gamboa reservoir and the island of Zuaza. This family route of Euskadi, is not as well known as the rest of the routes of Araba that we mention in this article but has a large dose of attractions. We hope you like it. The opening of the gates of the dam is another of the charms of this route in Alava. A spectacle that attracts the attention of the smallest of the house. Route to the Aixola reservoir.

The route along the Aixola reservoir is another of the many family routes that we recommend in Euskadi. This time, we have gone to Elgeta, Gipuzkoa to enjoy one of the most emblematic leisure areas of the region of Debabarrena. We must indicate that in the reservoir of Aixola it is prohibited to bathe, to fish or to make fire.

Xorroxin waterfall.

The route to the waterfall of Xorroxin invites us to travel through the incredible Baztan Valley in search of some of the most amazing corners of northern Navarre. A family route of 7.5 kilometers and 150 meters of unevenness that proposes a nice plan to discover Erratzu with the family. Highly recommended. Of course, when you reach the waterfall we advise you to be especially careful. And it is that the roots and rocks that we find next to the waterfall of Xorroxin are very slippery. The return to Erratzu is from the neighborhood of Gorostapolo, thus completing a circular route of great scenic beauty. This section of the route runs along the road that connects both towns, so we recommend that you be careful with cars. In any case, we must point out that this road has hardly any traffic, since it is forbidden to park in Gorostapolo to make the route to the waterfall of Xorroxin. Aldabide waterfall.

The Aldabide waterfall is one of those treasures that surprises us with the Gorbeia Natural Park. A waterfall, located at the foot of the Itxina massif, invites us to enjoy incredible views of the valley. That if, even being a route of less than 2 hours of duration and less than 5 kilometers long, the first section can be somewhat hard for the smallest of the house. And it is that the slope that we find next to the water deposit of the district of Urigoiti of Orozko, is usually hard to digest. Once up, the profile of the route is softened. Thus everything, we believe that it fits to the perfection in the profile of familiar routes to realize with children in Euskadi. Route to the castle of Butrón.

This family route in Euskadi is longer than usual. But its profile, without large slopes, encourages families to go up the Butron estuary in search of one of the most beautiful and important castles of our land. The route starts next to the Plentzia metro station and later crosses the Gandía neighborhood until it reaches the banks of the Butrón estuary. A route full of charms, which has several options. And if the 13 kilometers of this route seem too long, it is possible to use public transport, the bus, to return to Bilbao or other nearby towns. This route has an infinite number of charms. In addition to the aforementioned Butrón castle, there is the Arbina dam and the town of Plentzia. Route to Serantes Mountain.

The Serantes mountain is one of the most emblematic summits of Santurtzi and Bizkaia. A space, which offers several options to access to its highest point. And it is that although we recommend to follow the track that leaves from the urban nucleus of Santurtzi to arrive until the tower, until the summit, other options exist. The reason for our recommendation is very simple, the 10 kilometers long track that we mentioned offers us a familiar and pleasant route to reach the top in a comfortable and familiar way. We believe that the profile of the other trails that lead to the top of Mount Serantes may not be suitable for families. The historical buildings that we find in the high part of the Serantes mountain are another of its attractions. A clear example of this are the torreo and the fort of Serantes, the first of these structures has been restored and can be visited, while the second only preserves its ruins.

Route in Arkaute.

The Arkaute raft offers us a great option to enjoy nature just 4 kilometers from the center of Vitoria Gasteiz. A family tour that encourages us to enjoy a herd of deer, spoonbills or storks through the different observatories that we find on our way. As if all this were not enough, the interpretation center Ataria puts in value each of the attractions of this area of Euskadi. This route has hardly any accumulated slope, which makes it a perfect option for the whole family. Route to Salto del Nervión from Untza.

The Salto del Nervión, the largest waterfall in the peninsula, offers one of the greatest spectacles of Araba and Euskadi. Altube waterfall.

The Altube waterfall is one of the most unknown of Euskadi. A small waterfall that, located in the municipality of Zuia, in Araba, gives us a nice family route. We must indicate that more than a route it is a small walk. This linear route is only 2 kilometers long. This route is very attractive and pleasant, but it is not perfect. And it is that we must take into account that the parking is very small and the route is not signposted. Labyrinth of Arno.

The labyrinth of Arno and the arch of Zalamportillo are one of the greatest jewels of the Entzia mountain range. Undoubtedly one of the most important natural areas of the province of Araba. During this family route through Euskadi we will enjoy beech forests, an idyllic reservoir and a surprising labyrinth of limestone rock. Labyrinth of La Arboleda.

The Labyrinth of La Arboleda is located in the heart of the mining area of Bizkaia. Between mountains of iron. A landscape of great historical importance, in which nature is the main protagonist. Although this route has many attractions, the labyrinth of rocks that we find in its final stretch, next to the Ekoetxea of Peñas Negras, is one of its greatest attractions. Although this route is 16 kilometers long and has more than 600 meters of elevation gain, you should know that there is the possibility of shortening it according to our needs. The complete route joins the urban centers of Lalastra and Herán. Or what is the same, Araba and Burgos. A route through the Natural Park of Valderejo, which allows us to follow the course of the river Purón until we reach the gorge of the same name. Although most of the route runs through the lands of Alava, the complete route offers us the opportunity to walk between the communities of Castilla y León and Euskadi offering us some corners of great charm. A route, that next to the bed of the river Purón becomes a very interesting plan.

Pol Pol, Urkiola Natural Park.

The route to the source and fields of Pol Pol is one of the most popular family routes of Euskadi, a simple and beautiful route, which allows us to know some of the most emblematic corners of the Natural Park of Urkiola. Moreover, if you want to extend this route you can climb up to the Larrano refuge, a space from which we can appreciate an impressive panoramic view of Durango, Elorrio and Abadiño. Before making this family route of Euskadi we recommend you to go to the Sanctuary of Urkiola and the viewpoint of the 3 crosses, it is worth it. Especially the latter. Waterfalls of the Baia River.

Although the waterfalls that we find in this corner of Euskadi have nothing to do with large volume waterfalls such as the Salto del Nervión, it is worth enjoying them. The route starts at the Parketxe de Sarria, the park house on the Alava side. Route to the eye of Aitzulo.

The Aizkorri Aratz Natural Park encourages us to make different routes through its territorial limits. In this case, the town of Oñati, offers us a nice family route in Euskadi, the route to the eye of Aitzulo. The route that we present to you is part of the so-called water path, the route PR-Gi 3003. Unfortunately, the complete route can be a bit heavy for the smallest of the house, reason why we only recommend you to do the linear route that separates Araotz and the eye of Aiztulo. The ascent to the eye of Aitzulo starts next to the church of Araotz, near the emblematic Sanctuary of Arantzazu and the historic center of Oñati. Aguake waterfall.

The route to the Aguake waterfall from the town center of Antoñana, is one of those routes that leave a mark. Not only for the natural beauty that surrounds the waterfall, but also for the history and the urban center of Antoñana. An area of the Montaña Alavesa that we recommend you to visit during any trip to Euskadi. We recommend you to do this route during the rainy season. When the flow of the river Sabando increases together with the last rainfalls. This route of 80 meters of accumulated unevenness, it enamors to great part of the people who decide to visit it. And it is that the last stretch of this walk is full of charms. The Sabando river, the beech forest and the Aguake waterfall create a landscape worthy of admiring and enjoying.

La Tobería Waterfalls.

The waterfalls of the Tobería lead us to walk along the northern slope of the Sierra de Entzia. The name of the waterfalls of the Tobería comes from the Toba, a porous and delicate limestone, which is created from the calcium carbonate contained in the groundwater that flows from the Sierra de Entzia. On the other hand, although this route has positive slope during practically the whole route, its reduced length makes it one of our family routes of Euskadi. Besaide.

Besaide, the point where the Basque provinces of Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa meet, represents one of the most emblematic peaks of our territory. In this case, we encourage you to make a nice and enjoyable route from the neighborhood of Udala.

Labetxu.

Labetxu, the valley of colors of the Basque coast, offers us an incredible geological paradise by the sea. Although it can be considered a family tour, it is not conditioned, so we do not recommend doing it with small children and elderly people. We encourage you to read the article we have published on our website to know all the details of this route. In case you opt for this route, we recommend you to be very careful.

Old road of Lezama and Pikotamendi.

The Vía Vieja de Lezama runs along the old railroad line that linked Bilbao with Lezama. A route that takes us directly to Pikotamendi, one of the mountains surrounding the capital of Bizkaia. It is here, on the slopes of Pikotamendi, where we find some of the viewpoints with the best views of Bilbao. This is a very simple family route that can be reached comfortably by public transport (metro Bilbao).

Osinberde waterfall.

The Osinberde waterfall represents one of those magical places in Euskadi. A corner of our geography, which can not be visited all year round. Corraladas Waterfall.

Izartza beech forest.

Mendikosolo.

Mendikosolo Park is one of the most important natural areas of Arrigorriaga. A perfect place for families who want to disconnect from the daily routine. Remember that in addition to the already famous circular walk around the lake, there is also the possibility of climbing up to San Pedro de Abrisketa. Undoubtedly one of the most iconic places in the area.

Urkate waterfall.

Although the route to the Urkate waterfall has a clearly familiar profile, the viewpoint to the waterfall and its surroundings have a certain danger. And as we can see in the picture, the viewpoint is not delimited. We recommend you to be very attentive to the little ones of the house once you reach the vicinity of the waterfall. El Chorretón waterfall.

The Chorretón waterfall is one of the many natural wonders hidden in the valley of Karrantza. If you dare to visit this waterfall we recommend you to access from Cantabria through the charming village of Lanestosa. A perfect plan to spend the day with the family.

Lea Ibilbidea.

Lea Ibilbidea, the path of the river Lea, is one of the most beautiful routes in the province of Bizkaia. In our case, most of the routes in Euskadi that we have selected to do with children belong to the second and third group, between 5 and 20 km.
