The route to the viewpoint of the island of Zuaza, also known as the route to San Juan Punta, has a cumulative drop of just over 150 meters to reach the top of the peninsula of San Juan. This enclave located opposite the town of Ullibarri Gamboa and the island of Zuaza, helps us to disconnect from the daily routine while enjoying the silence and calm that is breathed in this Basque reservoir.The route begins in front of the dam of the reservoir, next to the road. At this point we find a small parking lot where we recommend you to leave your vehicle. This parking is totally free, but in order to start the route we must pass the A-3002 road. Be careful. Once at the viewpoint, we must take the stone and dirt track that is part of the green route of the Ullibarri Gamboa reservoir to reach the walkways that run in front of the dam.From here we must follow the signs of the green route of the Ullibarri Gamboa reservoir, until we reach a crossroads. Attention! We must not reach the crossroads, and is that if you look at the picture you find below these lines, you will see that there is a path that starts from the left about 5 meters before this crossing. It is time to leave the road and enter the forest. From this point the route has no signs, we continue climbing towards San Juan Punta. On this path we will meet again with a detour, it is time to choose the path to the right. Once on this path, there is no option to get lost. Just follow the path until you reach San Juan Punta and enjoy the incredible panoramic view it offers.
