From here, we must follow the road ascending little by little until we leave behind the Lanzas Agudas neighborhood. We enter the forest track. After walking for 500 meters, after crossing the cattle fence, we reach the first of the crossroads that we will find during the route. A sign indicates the way, we turn left, we start to climb.

The path ascends the hillside leaving the Lanzas Agudas neighborhood under our feet. From this point of the route we can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the area. After about 400 meters, the track enters a shady pine forest parallel to the Balgerri River.

As we advance, the water begins to make an appearance in the form of small waterfalls and streams (in summer there is no water). We also begin to see the occasional beech tree along the road. A few meters ahead we find another detour. This time we must continue straight on.

This junction is located in the heart of the beech forest. From here on we will find beech trees on the right and left for a good stretch. Of course, the slope on both sides is very steep. Be careful.

To complement the visit to the beech forest, we recommend a visit to the Balgerri waterfall. It is very small, but it has its charm. If you want to visit it, you only have to continue a few more meters along the track itself. Remember that the beech forest extends over much of the hillside, so you can extend the route if it seems too short.

Where to park.

The Lanzas Agudas neighborhood of Karrantza has hardly any parking spaces. In fact, due to the lack of parking, many people drive their vehicles along the forest track to the first sign of the Balgerri beech forest. In any case, our recommendation is to follow the road to the highest part of Lanzas Agudas and turn left to park next to the remains of a small church, between houses. Keep in mind that only 4 cars can enter this space, so please do not obstruct the entrance and exit of vehicles.

How to get there.

The best way to get to the Balgerri beech forest is from the Lanzas Agudas neighborhood of Karrantza. It is important to note that this is a rural urban center that can only be reached by private transport. That said, we believe that the best option to get to Lanzas Agudas is from the center of the valley, from the Concha neighborhood. Once here, we only have about 10 minutes by car to the upper part of Lanzas Agudas.
