Route to the Nocedal reservoir.
At TurismoVasco, we have walked most of the routes that lead to the Nocedal reservoir. Without a doubt, the route that starts in the center of La Quadra, next to the church of San Pedro and the town square, is the best option. From here, we must join the Kadagua greenway towards Alonsotegi (next to the playground on Eskauriatza Street). After walking about 400 meters, we come to a crossroads and turn right. It is time to leave the greenway and enter the woods, passing under the Kadagua corridor. Once on the forest track, the route is easy to follow; we just have to keep going without straying from the path. The effort-reward ratio is very interesting, especially for those looking for an easy route in the vicinity of La Quadra.

Vídeo.
As usual in all our publications, we have created a short video to show you the route to the Nocedal reservoir as realistically as possible. We encourage you to take a look. Hydraulic infrastructure.
The Nocedal reservoir (1964) is a dam built on the Nocedal stream, a tributary of the Cadagua River. The dam is about 40 meters high from its foundations and the reservoir covers approximately 4 hectares. It is undoubtedly a very important piece of infrastructure for the historic territory of Bizkaia and Sestao, the town it supplies with water.

La Quadra Tower.
Very close to the Nocedal reservoir, we find one of the most important vestiges of the feudal wars in the Kadagua Valley, the Tower of La Quadra. This tower is closely linked to Butrón Castle and Muñatones Castle. This building forms part of the historical identity of the area and is one of the structures that has best preserved its original features. The tower was built in the second half of the 14th century, coinciding with the intensification of the struggles between lineages. It was later completely rebuilt in the 15th century. Its structure follows the usual model of a Biscayan feudal tower: rectangular in plan and with a large vertical development that gives it a solid and defensive appearance.

Excursions for groups.
At TurismoVasco, we organize group excursions in the Basque Country throughout the year. In the case of the Enkarterri region, we offer hiking trails such as the one we are presenting today, combined with cultural visits and gastronomic experiences. Can you imagine hiking through the mountains, visiting a local museum, and finishing off with a meal at a txakoli winery? All this is possible thanks to our group excursions. Remember that we design each experience according to the needs of the group: associations, educational centers, companies, or groups of friends. If you are organizing a trip to the Basque Country, we recommend that you contact us. We will send you a personalized quote with no obligation.

Where to park.
The best option is to leave your vehicle near the church of San Pedro, in La Quadra. Although there are several places to park in this area, the number of spaces is very limited. If you can’t find a space, we recommend leaving your car on the main road (BI-3651). If you are traveling in a group, don’t worry, we will take care of all the logistics so that you can enjoy your getaway.
