Route to the Ilso Viewpoint.
The route to the Ilso viewpoint is a family-friendly trail that encourages us to enjoy the natural surroundings of Zalla. The trail climbs gradually along an easy path, surrounded by vegetation and with open sections that give us a glimpse of the views that await us at the top. As we gain altitude, the landscape opens up and we begin to make out the Kadagua valley and the surrounding mountains. The effort-reward ratio is very high, and it is well worth it. Once at the top, we find an observation tower and a viewpoint. These are perfect places to stop, rest, and enjoy the surroundings before heading back down. Here are some guidelines to help you reach the viewpoint without any problems.
- Once in the parking lot, continue up the road you arrived on for about 180 meters until you reach a crossroads, then turn right.
- We continue along this track for 1.8 km until we reach the old airfield on Mount Ilso Eguen.
- From the airfield, we can already see the observation tower at the top. To climb up, we have two options: climb directly or go around it following a dirt path that we find next to the airfield.
- After visiting the observation tower, we must continue along the ridge until we reach the summit of Mount Ilso Eguen and its viewpoint.
- We retrace our steps.

Ilso Viewpoint.
The Ilso viewpoint is a natural balcony located in a strategic position (next to the summit). From here, you can enjoy a wide, unobstructed view of the valley, especially at sunrise and sunset. It is a family-friendly viewpoint with great panoramic views and few crowds, making it an excellent alternative to other viewpoints in the province of Bizkaia.

Observation tower.
Many people are unaware that there are two viewpoints at the top of Mount Ilso Eguen. Just a few meters from the viewpoint, there is an incredible observation tower, a striking structure that is unusual in the mountains of the Basque Country.
