Navarra and its capital, Pamplona , are spectacular, but we should not leave aside the villages of this area. Many of them seem to come out of fairy tales, Navarre land of castles and villages of the Middle Ages, we could title this article. Do you want to know which villages of Navarre we refer to?

1.-Tudela: We cannot say that it is a town, since it is the second most important city of Navarra, but we have decided to include it in this section because it is a charming city. It is worth mentioning the Mudejar and Jewish quarters, we must visit 2 points of the city, on the one hand the square of the fueros of Tudela and on the other hand the cathedral.

Olite: Former residence of the kings of the kingdom of Navarre, it owes its beauty as this town contains walls, palace, castle and chapel of that time, all worthy of seeing and contemplating, the castle open to the public can be visited, while in the palace we can find what today is the national parador of Olite. All these buildings make this town a fairytale town of knights and princesses.

Estella: Important point on the road to Santiago, an emblem in this field, many of the pilgrims who pass through it are enthusiastic about its architecture, among its most emblematic buildings are the palace of the kings of Navarre and the 3 most striking churches in the area. Near Estella we can find the monasteries of Irache and the monastery of Iranzu.

4.-Ujue: The location of this village makes it simply special, located on top of a plateau, with views that you can not stop looking at, like the previous villages has a certain air of medieval village.

5.-Roncesvalles: Town of great importance in the region and in the history of Navarre, among its history it is worth remembering the battle of Roncesvalles. The medieval atmosphere is present in all the streets of this town.

Bidasoa Valley: All the villages of this valley have a very personal charm, all of them of Basque-Navarrese origin, and as every time the word Basque appears, we emphasize the gastronomy of the area. We recommend the small town of Lesaka, known in the area for its festivals, san Fermin txiki.

7.-Roncal Valley: Famous for its natural areas and its great ecological value. In this valley we can find the ski resort of Isaba, all this environment is incredible. A very little inhabited area and very little exploited. Recommended visit.

Baztan Valley: Many of its villages are amazing, incredible, admirable, admirable…. as the valley of Roncal, this also has a great value in terms of the field of nature.

9.-Yesa: Only for the monastery of Leyre it is worthwhile to visit here…..we can even sleep in it, since nowadays it is a hotel (part of the building).

10.-Javier: Town of Saint Francis Xavier, patron saint of Navarre, he was born in the castle of Javier, which we recommend visiting, as both his room and other parts of the building are preserved intact.

As you can see, in many of the villages and valleys of Navarra the same characteristics are constantly repeated, villages, neighborhoods or fairytale towns, lands of castles, all with a certain medieval aroma. All this in incredible natural surroundings, which leave no tourist indifferent, Navarrese villages are full of history, which is why we highly recommend a visit.
