In Guipuzcoa we find a variety of very attractive mountains that offer the tourist the possibility of enjoying the best of the Basque nature. These mountains have been classified in a small list where we have named the main mountains of Guipuzcoa, as well as their height and the characteristics that make them attractive for active tourism.
Mount Aketegui: Located in the beautiful mountain range of Aitzkorri, Mount Aketegui is the second highest of the same, with about 1548 meters above sea level, which makes it a place besides pleasant for its landscape, difficult to climb, which makes it an attraction for the most experts in terms of climbing or mountaineering. It is formed by a series of limestone rocks that give it its particular grayish color. The time needed to climb to the summit of Aketegui is estimated, depending on the point from which you want to climb, between 2 and 3 hours approximately.
Mount Aitzkorri: Adorning the massif of the same name is Mount Aitzkorri with about 1530 meters above sea level, although to be more accurate we will say that 1528.5 meters. Aitzkorri offers the most spectacular views of the entire mountain range and temperatures of up to ten degrees below zero on the Celsius scale. It is the ideal setting for mountaineers.
Monte Gamboa: It is one of the highest peaks of the Aralar mountain range, and is particularly attractive to visitors, especially to lovers of climbing and hiking, because from its peak you can see practically the entire region where this mountain is located.
Mount Arbelaitz: This spectacular mountain is one of the highest in the entire province of Guipuzcoa, it is one of the biggest tourist attractions for both mountaineers par excellence and for the common tourist, due to its diversity in terms of rock composition and extreme temperatures that can be perceived in Arbelaitz. It is a little more than 1500 meters high and temperatures drop to approximately 8 degrees below zero on the Celsius scale during the coldest months.
Guipuzcoa does not exactly highlight the mountain tourism (we must take into account the influx of tourists in San Sebastian), but there are certainly a few sites quite recognized and very beautiful, as the mountains of Guipuzcoa, represent a point of interest for anyone visiting the province, from these giants of stone can be appreciated great views and sports in contact with nature, such as hiking or climbing.
