Located in one of the most emblematic natural environments of Gipuzkoa, the Hotel Gurutze-Berri offers tranquility and a relaxed atmosphere in which to rest.
This family hotel, run by the Zapirain family, has more than 45 years of experience. During all these years, they have managed with great success the 36 rooms of the hotel. All the rooms of the Gurutze-Berri hotel have bathroom, heating, television and free wifi, services that helped to make our stay in this hotel more comfortable.
Located in the town of Oiartzun, very close to the Aiako harria Natural Park, the Gurutze-Berri hotel is a very good option for all those who want to go hiking, climbing, mountaineering or any other activity related to the great stone walls of this natural park.
The Gurutze-Berri hotel served as our headquarters for our visits to the Oarsoaldea region of Gipuzkoa. From this accommodation we moved to Momotegi, Mater Museum, Albaola and the mines of Arditurri without losing much time in the displacements, all a success.
6 Pros and Cons of Hotel Gurutze-Berri
Considering this hotel’s 1-star rating and the price of its services, we break down our opinion of it into 5 interesting points.
Location: Perhaps the strongest point of this hotel. Located in the middle of nature, just 11 kilometers from the capital of Gipuzkoa and 15 minutes drive from the airport of Donostia – San Sebastian, this is a good hotel where to stay to enjoy nature without having to close the door to visit the Basque cities.
A perfect location to enjoy both the beauty of the interior and the Basque coast. We recommend waking up early to enjoy the sunrises that gives us the Hotel Gurutze-Berri, really worth seeing.
Building: The word “hotel” is usually associated with a building with certain characteristics that clash with the design of the Gurutze-Berri hotel. We choose to define it as a rural house with charm. The exterior of the building is preserved in very good condition, attracting the attention of everyone who passes by the road that borders the hotel.
Attention: The attention of the workers at Hotel Gurutze-Berri was correct at all times. Even arriving late at night, the reception was open to welcome us, a detail that is appreciated.
Price: The average price of the Hotel Gurutze-Berri is around 55€, a price that, although it may seem high, is in the average of the accommodations in the region of Oarsoaldea. The hotel has special prices for groups, if it is your case, do not forget to ask for them.
Accessibility: Accessibility is an aspect that is very important to us at TurismoVasco.com. Although the hotel does not have an elevator, people with reduced mobility have the option of accessing the hotel through the back door, thus avoiding the stairs of the establishment. As you can see, the architectural barriers of the hotel can be overcome without any problem.
The interior: The hotel perfectly meets all the requirements of a 1 star hotel. Although the interior would appreciate a little redesign.
Apart from these points for and against the Gurutxe-Berri hotel, we would like to highlight its restaurant, which, although we did not have the opportunity to taste it, has a great reputation throughout Gipuzkoa.
As you can see, Hotel Gurutxe-Berri is a good option for our adventure both inland and along the coast of Gipuzkoa.
