Hotel guests, businessmen on business trips, workers at the Bizkaia Technology Park, travelers with long stopovers in Bilbao and a long list of people sit at the tables of the Urbe Restaurant every day. We went to this establishment on the recommendation of some friends, “fast service, aesthetically neat premises and elaborate dishes at a good price”, this is how they summed up their experience at the Urbe Restaurant, a phrase that we could well make our own.

From today, we add this culinary establishment to our list of restaurants in the Bizkaia Technology Park, a list in which we recommend the best options for eating in the vicinity of Derio and Zamudio. Do you want to know the reasons why we have added the Urbe Restaurant?

Its premises, with an aesthetically pleasing appearance, welcomes us in what is undoubtedly one of the best options to eat good, nice and cheap near the Bilbao airport, the Urbe restaurant. The hotel chain International Hotel Group gives shelter through its Holiday Inn Express Bilbao establishment to the Urbe restaurant, thus adding lunch and dinner service to the 114 rooms of the hotel complex.

Local: The Urbe restaurant is located on the first floor of the Holiday Inn Express Bilbao Hotel, a complex that provides the Urbe restaurant with all the facilities at its disposal: more than 100 parking spaces, shuttle service to the airport every 10 minutes (only for hotel guests), screen with real-time flight information, car rental…

Speed: A very important premise for the type of regular customers to this type of restaurants, workers with limited time to eat and travelers who make a stopover in Bilbao. A need that the Urbe restaurant knows how to satisfy to perfection by controlling the time between courses, without haste but without pause.

Location: A luxurious location offers workers at the Bizkaia Technology Park and travelers from the Bilbao airport a quality service just a few minutes from their locations. We must not forget that, although the location favors the aforementioned groups, the Urbe restaurant is less than 15 minutes by car from the urban center of Bilbao.

Price: 12€ VAT included. A market price, which offers diners a good value for money.

Convenience: The dishes that make up the daily menu are published in advance on their website, making it possible to consult them and check if they are to our taste.

Dishes: They present themselves as a restaurant based on traditional Basque cuisine without neglecting innovation and international touches, and that is what we find, a varied offer of dishes in which we find proposals of all kinds.

We opted for 2 dishes that have little to do with the gastronomic culture of the Basque Country, seafood rice and grilled meat with tximitxurri sauce. The first, perfect, just right, brothy but not watery, with a good flavor, the second, with a good flavor but somewhat dry, a point that improved with the sauce that accompanied it. Both dishes left us with a good taste in our mouths, making us leave the restaurant with a smile on our faces.

We must mention the vegetarian alternative (ovo-dairy) offered to those customers who prefer to enjoy Basque vegetables cooked in a very special way, that of the house.

The restaurant has sofas as a terrace that make having a coffee in this establishment a must. A perfect end to a good menu of the day, we wait for your opinion!
