Meet and enjoy Birjilanda, a restaurant where local products and service attract attention.
After our adventure through the region of Uribe, after making some of the 8 most striking active tourism experiences in the area, we approached Bakio in search of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins, minerals and liquids, in short, to get strength. In Bakio, in the port, we found the Birjilanda Restaurant, a renovated restaurant, with a modern aesthetic, but with the flavors of a lifetime, flavors of land and sea.

Bakio, one of the most popular towns in Bilbao to enjoy the summer season, has an environment of great natural value and one of the most famous txakolis in Bizkaia, the Txakoligorri, unique in its kind.
Traditional song that mentions the Txakoli Gorri de Bakio.
When talking about Bilbao, always keep in mind
That there are villages that surround it and give it character and ambience.
To all of Bizkaia.
Go Erandio, who is from Erandio!
Go Kaiku, which is from Sestao!
The Hornos de Baracaldo light up the whole of Bilbao.
Portugalete Bridge, you are the most elegant,
Portugalete Bridge, the best suspension bridge.
Sardines from Santurce, hake from Bermeo,
Txakoli Gorri’ from ‘Bakio’ and tomatoes from Deusto.
And it dresses with elegance the aristocracy in Neguri,
Pants with a thousand stripes just like those of ‘Atxuri’…
Throughout Duranguesado and Encartaciones.
Bilbao, deep in its mouth, nourishes itself with the solera
That they give you all the towns that ‘Bizkaia’ has in its entirety.
Long live grace and salt, humor and salt and pepper!
Viva ‘Bizkaia’ cantora! Viva Bilbao, which is my town!
Long live, long live, long live Bilbao;
Long live ‘Bizkaia’ and its good cod.
If you want to know any of the two facets we mentioned, the nature and txakoli of Bakio, we recommend a 4×4 tour of Bakio, visit the Txakolingune and visit the winery of Txakoli Doniene Gorrondona, 3 experiences of great value to everyone.
Birjilanda Restaurant and the products of the region.
The region of Uribe, rich in garden and sea food, offers us a great variety. On this occasion, the Birjilanda Restaurant offers a fusion between km 0 products (local products) and traditional cuisine that creates dishes that are simple in appearance and intense in flavor.
Local: The establishment, renovated, modern, offers a quiet place to relax and enjoy a good table. Its decoration, with memories of the area and pleasant colors, help to enjoy the dishes of Birjilanda. The funny point of the decoration is a painting in which you can see a kuadrilla on the way to the water with their bathing suits down, fun, daring, enjoy!
Location: The location of the restaurant Birjilanda, in the so-called port of Bakio, allows us to contemplate a beautiful picture of the beach of Bakio with San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in the background. A location, in which most of the bars and restaurants of Bakio converge, creating a nice atmosphere of pintxo-poteo. Although it has always been known as the port of Bakio, it is not a port as such, you will not find a fishing fleet, not even pleasure boats moored on pontoons, but yes, a certain charm in their houses attached to the mountain and hugging the sea.
Products: The products used in Birjilanda’s cuisine are products harvested in the villages that make up the Uribe region. 100% Basque products, high quality products, km0 products. This point is what we liked the most. It is not a glamorous restaurant awarded with Michelin stars but it works like them, looking for the exceptionality of the products, without good products it is difficult to obtain a good dish.
Attention: Andrea, owner of Birjilanda, welcomed us with great enthusiasm in the place that has been her home for more than 11 years. As a result of her enthusiasm and passion for the products she offers, a constant smile was on her face at all times, a detail that she transmits to everyone who visits her dining room.
Price: In Birjilanda we found a very competitive value for money, and 2 of the dishes that caught our attention, green peppers from Euskal Baserri (Basque farmhouse) and Cantabrian anchovies were priced at € 4.50 and € 7.50 respectively, a very good price for quality products. Although we opted for the menu, the restaurant Birjilanda, offers us the possibility to try its menu of the day for a very competitive price, 11€.
As they say in Birjilanda: Sea, mountain and good food friends!
