The terrace, the bar and the dining room of the 11 villagers hang the sold-out sign repeatedly during the weekend, a fact that, in addition to forcing us to reserve a table every time we visit this establishment, is also an indicator of its culinary expertise.
Local: The Restaurant 11 villagers is located in the center of Bilbao, in the neighborhood of Indautxu, less than 1 minute from the nearest subway exit and less than 10 minutes walk from the Gran Vía of Bilbao. A strategic place to take a break on the way, get strength and continue our visit to the capital of Bizkaia. The terrace and the bar of the 11 villagers accompany the 2 dining rooms that the restaurant has at the end of its premises, a space that has earned the good reputation that precedes it. The only negative point that we found is the bathroom, and is that at rush hour, when customers of the bar, the terrace and the restaurant are at this point is caused some other long wait.
Menu: Although the 11 Aldeanos Restaurant has a varied menu to choose from, we wanted to try one of their menus for groups, specifically the one known as “All to share”. This menu has been specifically designed for groups of more than 4 individuals, including a complete list of 7 dishes in which there is only one possible variation, grilled entrecotte or txuleton, our decision was unanimous, txuleton. The menu begins with a dish as simple as attractive, bread with tomato, an appetizer that makes clear the quality, character and presence of the menu to be tasted. This dish was followed by 7 courses, each one better, of which we left no trace.
Assortment Ibéricos de Bellota: A high quality assortment of which we highlight the ham, delicious.
Homemade tomato salad with tuna taco from Bermeo: Although the tuna loins were a bit dry, the dish did not spoil the good taste in the mouth with which we started.
Grilled octopus: Good flavor, good presentation and good texture, little more we can say.
Our homemade croquettes: Great tasting, delicious croquettes.
Black rice with txipirones: Perhaps the weakest dish on the menu, but more than correct.
Hake in batter with green peppers: Good raw material, good result. Tender and juicy.
Grilled txuleton with garnish: Good texture and well cooked, just right.
Dessert and drink: The dessert turned out to be a chocolate cake with ice cream, but only for those brave enough to survive the rest of the menu. As for the drink, we have the option of marinating all these dishes with a good bottle of txakoli or crianza for every 3 people. In short, a very complete menu with which in addition to enjoying every bite we are left with a very good taste in our mouths. We must mention that although it is a menu to share, it is as filling as or more than any individual menu.
Attention: The attention of the responsible and waiters of the restaurant 11 villagers was to highlight, we tell you our experience. We had reserved a table for 5 people, but while we were having some pots in the nearby street of Pozas, a sixth friend joined the plan, we called and modified the reservation. When there were barely 15 minutes to go to dinner, a seventh friend joined the group, converting what at first was a table for 5 into a table for 7, we drove them crazy, they changed our table and served us perfectly, what more could you ask for?
