The Basque Country and its nudist beaches
Nature is very present throughout the Basque Country and every year we receive many tourists who come just to enjoy it. Many of them share the same tastes, enjoy nature and also enjoy it in the most natural way….. as God brought us to the world!!!.
More and more people are leaving at home the shame and enjoy the beaches naked. If you are a naturist don’t miss the following beaches and enjoy them your way!!! The beaches where you can enjoy the Basque Country in the nude are:
Along the Biscay coast we can find several nudist beaches:
Barinatxe: This beach is one of the many beaches available in the municipality of Sopela. It is a quite extensive beach considering the other beaches that surround it, and even those of the neighboring towns. The locals call this beach “the wild one”, some say because of the nude theme and others because of its environment and its waters. The atmosphere is very good, 80% of the people who visit “la salvaje” are young people although not all of them practice nudism. Normally people who practice nudism is usually placed on the left side of the sandy beach, if you opt for this beach beware of the currents.
Ogeia: Beach located in Ispaster, we can say that it is almost certainly the most natural beach in the area because around it is very easy to find all kinds of animal or plant form. Of course, being the most natural beach of all the beaches in the area has a price, the location, as it is quite far from urban centers. It is not a very long beach but it has a special charm.
Barrika: In this section we include the 2 nudist beaches that Barrika has, on the one hand the best known, Meñakoz and on the other hand a cove of stone and almost without people called “The quarry”. Meñakoz is one of the most emblematic beaches in the area, defended by cliffs typical of the Basque country, Meñakoz is a gift for our eyes because of its landscape, yes, it is all stone and access is not very good to say. Near both beaches there are bars that only for their views are worth visiting, a clear example of this is the northern gulf.
Azkorri: This beach in the town of Getxo, which includes Las arenas, romo, algorta and santa maria de getxo is a beach that has a large sandy area accompanied by a lot of stones, in some areas we can rest on grassy surfaces. If we decide to go to this beach we strongly advise to make the walk that joins it with algorta, and thus to be able to see the cliffs of the zone of which we already spoke in the article walks in Vizcaya.
Nudist beaches can also be found along the coast of Guipuzcoa:
Saturraran: This beach in the town of Mutriku, very close to the border with Vizcaya, is not very long but like the beaches mentioned above, it has very natural surroundings.
La Zurriola: Emblematic beach of San Sebastian along with La Concha, both in the center of the capital of Guipuzcoa. We could describe it as the liberal alternative to La Concha beach.
Zarautz: Located in the municipality of the same name, this beach is one of the longest on the Basque coast, almost 3 kilometers long.
If you are visiting Alava, you also have your space in the gardens surrounding the city as the Ullibarri reservoir, where you can enjoy the good weather just a short time from the city.
