From January to May, the tables fill up and the reservations skyrocket, however, until now there was no means of transport connecting the main urban centers of the Basque Country with each of the sagardotegis, that is where Sagardobus was born, an initiative that links Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Pamplona with many of the cider houses of Astigarraga and Hernani, municipalities with the highest number of cider houses per square meter of the entire Basque Country.

It is no longer necessary to charter a whole bus or for one of the gang to miss out on the cider because they have to drive. It is an idea that aims to revolutionize the concept of hiring a bus. Sagardobus offers two services from each of these cities every Saturday. One at lunch time and the other at dinner time. In addition, they make a previous stop in Astigarraga to have a drink and whet your appetite (pintxo-poteo), and another one after the banquet to enjoy the incredible atmosphere that is created during the cider season in the town of Hernani. The initiative has been carried out by four young entrepreneurs who have seen a business opportunity in such a typical Basque tradition as the sagardotegis. During our experience with Sagardobus we were surprised by small details that made our trip to the cider house more entertaining, more comfortable, making the service they provided us with a quality service.

Welcome pack: When we got on the bus, the driver handed out to all Sagardobus users an information leaflet with a badge. On the back of the brochure you could read the lyrics of several songs in Basque that accompanied us during the trip.

Bus: The bus met all possible requirements, including comfortable and safe seats, two of the most important aspects in our opinion.

Signaling: In Astigarraga and Hernani, in sagardotegi season, buses are like pests, we have come to count more than 20 buses in some of our trips. That is why, we applaud the signaling that they incorporate to all their buses, good initiative.

We will receive an email in which we indicate the summary of our reservation, an email which is followed by another confirming that the sagardotegi has room and the bus also, this being the final confirmation of our reservation. 1 day before our appointment with Sagardobus we will receive a text message (SMS) reminding us of our appointment and indicating the bus number and place where it will be.
