Baserri Antzokia, restaurant, bar and txoko, to promote Basque culture and language in the Txorierri Valley.
Although at first glance it may not seem so, the Baserri Antzokia of Derio, is much more than a simple restaurant. This establishment located behind the seminar of Derio, in the heart of the Technology Park, is born as a sociocultural space, a place where the culture and the Basque language gain strength through the different samples that we find in each of the events of its programming. The project is based on the formula “kafe-antzokia”, a very widespread format throughout our territory, which has undergone some minor modifications making it Baserri Antzokia. This is how we have managed to create the first place of these characteristics, a building typical of the rural areas of Euskal Herria, which hosts all kinds of events around our people, culture and language.

The Baserri Antzokia of Derio has the support of Totoan, the Federation of Basque Associations of Txorierri and the Commonwealth of Services of Txorierri (City Councils of Sondika, Loiu, Derio, Zamudio, Lezama and Larrabetzu). A project with a great future that counts on the support of the whole society.

This establishment located in the Science and Technology Park of Bizkaia, opened its doors on October 5, 2016, date, since when it has hosted multiple events and fed hundreds of workers. A fact, which has pushed us to know in first person the Baserri Antzokia restaurant, the latest to join the list of restaurants to eat in the vicinity of the Zamudio Technology Park.
Building: The restaurant is located in a modern and sustainable building with a Basque farmhouse structure, a 705m2 building, valued at more than 1 million euros. Stone and wood, two old acquaintances of Basque architecture, return to the forefront of the interior and exterior of Baserri Antzokia, another of the many nods of this establishment to the Basque people. Surrounding the building, we find the golf course (Pitch & Putt) of Derio and the seminary of the same town, a quiet environment for the plot of 4,264m2that houses the Baserri Antzokia.
Dining room: The dining room occupies the central part of the building, a completely open space, surrounded by the stage and the bars of the restaurant, a quiet place, with Basque music and dim lighting, which offers everything we need to enjoy the menu of the day. We recommend occupying the tables at the back, since on cold winter days, the tables at the entrance become somewhat uncomfortable due to the comings and goings of people.
Menu: Composed of 4 starters and 4 main courses to choose from, the Baserri Antzokia menu has a respectable quality of dishes, a clear commitment to increase the quality of the dishes, even if it means being less competitive in terms of prices. Our choices were pesto farfalle with prawns and salmon, baked turbot with salad and cheesecake, a nice combination of products and culinary knowledge, which convinced our stomachs.
Attention: The attention given by all the people in charge of Baserri Antzokia was perfect. We must make special emphasis on the time between courses, a very important point, even more, when it is a working day and most diners have limited time to devote to one of the most important gastronomic moments of the day, a point, in which omitting a small impasse between the second course and desserts, was correct.
Price: The menu of the day at Baserri Antzokia is priced at 13€ per diner, a cost above the average of the restaurants in the area, which is argued by the increase in quality that we have talked about previously.
Reservations: Don’t waste your time, don’t call, there is no need to make a reservation. It is usual to find a place, but they do not promise anything.
Baserri Antzokia also has a large pintxo bar, another possible formula for eating in the surroundings of the Bizkaia Technology Park. On egin!
