7 reasons to enjoy the Txakolibus.

This project is part of the Tourist Product Club of Euskadi Gastronomika, a tourist branch that is responsible for disseminating the gastronomic culture of our people, shows us the quality and variety of the products of our land, products, among which we find the Txakoli, the great wine of the Basque farmhouses (baserriak in Basque).

Tour guide: The tour guide of the Txakolibus, Cristian Lertxundi, not only discovered the secrets of the towns we visited, on the way to our destination, microphone in hand, he showed us in detail the anecdotes and history of the land through which we were passing. A friendly and attentive guide, able to create a great atmosphere in which to enjoy a day of guided tours to villages and wineries, a 10 for Cristian!

Unique Txakoli route: In Bizkaia and in the Basque Country in general there are many Txakoli wineries, but, as far as we know, there is no regular bus line that connects them. In this sense, Txakolibus is a pioneering initiative that offers us to enjoy the magnificent wine of several wineries through a bus route without having to worry about the return transport. A project, through which we know in more detail the region of Uribe, a region in which sea and mountain merge to offer us a great spectacle.

Visiting municipalities: Many times, you, our users, ask us for tour guides to visit some of our most emblematic municipalities, well, Txakolibus allows us to know them while enjoying one of the typical products of the Basque Country, the Txakoli.

Monument to the Baserritarra Mungia

Several origins: Txakolibus, offers 3 points from which to embark on this adventure, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Bilbao and Mungia (capital of the region of Uribe). 3 options that make it affordable to enjoy the Biscayan Txakoli wineries without having to hire the services of several companies.

Moyua Square

Several wineries: During the tour we have the opportunity to visit several wineries, a fact that allows us to get a more general idea about the culture of Txakoli in Bizkaia. Txakolibus, offers us to visit 2 wineries where we will taste each of the wines they produce. In our case, we visited Magalarte Zamudio and Butroi, 2 very interesting projects around Txakoli in which we tasted 5 different txakolis, projects with a great projection that we will follow closely.

Cork Magalarte Zamudio

Price: 23€ per adult. The price includes transportation, tour guide, tasting and hamaiketako (lunch at 11:00 in Basque) of local products for each of the wineries visited. All this accompanied by a visit to several municipalities in the region of Uribe. A price with a very good value for money. If you don’t believe it, pay attention to our argumentation!

Value for money

To check that the price of the Txakolibus maintains a very good quality-price ratio, we have broken down each of the services offered to see the real cost of the Txakolibus.

Transportation: Prices correspond to the round trip, excluding the route between wineries.

  • From Vitoria-Gasteiz: 12,60€.
  • From Bilbao: 2,40€.
  • From Mungia: 2€.

Tourist guide: 155€. The price includes the services of a tour guide for 5 hours.

Visit, tasting and hamaiketako in 2 wineries: It is difficult to value the 2 tastings and hamaiketakos that we enjoyed during the Txakolibus, but 30 € per person would be a more than reasonable price and surely we fall short.

As you can see, only with the visits to the wineries we exceeded the €23 fare of the Txakolibus, a more than enough argumentation to embark on the next trip of the Txakolibus, are you up for it?

Details: Although all the Txakolibus information brochures warn that the visit is in Spanish, we had the company of a foreign couple, people who were attended by the guide in English without neglecting the group, a nice detail that we would all like to enjoy in other countries.

Magalarte Txakoli Cup

This is not the first time we talk about the region of Uribe, and the fact is that this region of Bizkaia always has an ace up its sleeve to surprise us, do you remember our weekend of active tourism in Uribe? let’s remember it! 8 experiences of active tourism in the region of Uribe.

Paragliding in Sopela

Txakolibus collaborates with the Rioja Alavesa Wine Route, sharing the bus used for both services. It should be noted that the Txakolibus, sometimes converted into a Beerbus, gives us the opportunity to taste the craft beers of the area, same service, different broth. Would you like to enjoy our beloved Txakolibus or Beerbus?
