Gran Via: First and foremost and as if it were an obligatory route, the Gran Via is essential to feel Bilbao up close. As in any other big city in Spain, the Gran Via is located in the center of the city and consists of a branch of streets that connect the main traffic circle with the rest of the city.
From Bilbao’s Gran Via you can go to the different main streets that connect the city. Here you can find restaurants, stores of all kinds and the main museums, squares and monuments that are in the place.
Guggenheim Museum: Although in a weekend there is usually not enough time to see everything really important in Bilbao, the Guggenheim Museum is undoubtedly a must, as it is one of the most important museums of contemporary art.
This museum is also one of the most important in our country and can be considered an authentic architectural masterpiece at the hands of Frank O. Gehry, the Canadian who built it.
San Mamés Stadium: This legendary stadium has belonged to Athletic Club since 1913 and in the 2012/13 season it was demolished to build the new one on its foundations. The state receives this name for being built on the asylum of San Mames which was what was there before the stadium was built on this land.
