Larrabea is one of those golf courses that every player has heard of, a layout that allows you to play and enjoy each and every one of its corners, a course that every good golf lover has in mind. Located in Legutio, a municipality in Alava of great natural value, Larrabea offers incredible facilities that are part of the temple of leisure located just 16 kilometers from the capital of Araba, Vitoria-Gasteiz.

We arrived at the Larrabea Golf Club called by its manicured greens, its colorful fairways and its imposing trees, 3 qualities that have made this course to be considered one of the best golf courses in the Basque Country.

The course, protected from the north wind by the Albertia mountain, offers us a wide course where we find a great variety of fauna and flora, a course where trees, bunkers, rivers and lakes protect the fast greens with great strength. We arrived at the Larrabea facilities by the secondary road linking Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz, the N-240, a road that crosses some of the most charming villages in the interior of Bizkaia. An example of this are the towns of Areatza and Zeanuri, 2 towns located in the Arratia Valley and that protect the entrance to the Gorbeia Natural Park. After passing the port of Barazar, we contemplate an unparalleled natural environment, a route that leads us to our destination, the Larrabea Golf Club.

History: The estate where today we find Larrabea Golf Club, owes its origin to Miguel Rodriguez Ferrer, a Sevillian, who after studying law, held political posts in provinces around the world, including Bizkaia and Araba. Miguel made of the property his home, creating a natural environment full of contrasts, a space, which he did not hesitate to endow with cultural symbols of the places where he had lived, the most striking, those of the island of Cuba.

Today, the estate, converted into a golf course, enjoys a great environmental health thanks to the Albertia mountain and the Urrunaga and Ullibarri reservoirs, making this golf club enjoy the advantages of nature and those of the city at the same time. Its 18-hole course has respected the original estate to the maximum, so we can contemplate centenary trees next to the wide fairways, making the trees come into play in most of the holes. Larrabea leaves behind the concept of a golf course to become a unique experience. Do you dare to experiment?

Facilities: Larrabea’s facilities do not end at the golf course, a complete gym, 2 swimming pools, the restaurant and the terrace accompany it in the work of offering maximum comfort to the visitor.

Course: Although the Larrabea Golf Club has 2 courses, P&P and Golf, in this article we want to focus on the 18-hole course, on the golf course. Surrounding the clubhouse and taking advantage of the natural charms of the place, we find all kinds of holes, easy, difficult, right, left, short, long … all have a little trap where you can fall in this adventure called Larrabea, you will not be disappointed.

Price: Like any great course, the price is according to the experience. 70€ on weekdays and 100€ on weekends, you pay as much as you enjoy.

Care: The care of the course is seen daily throughout the course as club members make improvements. Hard work and consistency = golf course in perfect condition, the formula that never fails.

Jon Rahm: The player from Barrika, is a local player at the Larrabea golf course, and is that, before making the leap to the other side of the pond, Jon, enjoyed the same course that we stepped on during our stay. Rental housing in Larrabea: Next to the exit of hole 10, on the side of the clubhouse, we find a row of semi-detached houses available to all those who wish to leave the hustle and bustle of the cities behind and settle in a small oasis just 15 minutes drive from the center of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Larrabea Long club restaurant, menu of the day: To end our experience in Larrabea we decided to try the menu of the day in their restaurant, the Larrabea Lounge club.

We had not made a reservation, but we were lucky, after waiting 15 minutes on the terrace we went up to the second floor of the building, a noble structure in which stone and wood predominate. The chosen menu was seafood rice, beef steak and cheesecake as a finale, a simple but elaborate menu with which we regained strength for our return home.
