Located on the road that connects Mungia with the coastal towns of Bakio and Bermeo, we find the Bidebieta restaurant, a humble restaurant with the authentic flavors of a lifetime.
Those of us who frequent the road between Mungia and the coast of Bizkaia, know very well the Bidebieta restaurant, a restaurant located on the roadside where we will not find great boast of immensity, rather the opposite, humility. The Bidebieta restaurant has been serving the people of Bizkaia since time immemorial, in the past as a grocery store, bar and restaurant and currently only as a bar/restaurant, which is quite enough!
In the restaurant one breathes an atmosphere euskaldun / Basque, and that is noted in the kitchen, traditional dishes of our land together with products of the country, all a prize for our senses. This restaurant, like any restaurant that is worthy has several specialties of the house among which we find dishes such as: stew, clams, hake and lamb.
Monday is the Bidebieta restaurant’s weekly rest day.
We decided to test if the menu of the day of the Bidebieta restaurant shared the same quality as the typical dishes of the house, do you want to know the menu? Attention!
Menu of the day of the restaurant Bidebieta.
The Bidebieta restaurant has a small dining room that is always full and this occasion was not going to be the exception, a full dining room. We went to Bidebieta without a reservation, but we had no problems to eat, they quickly found us a table. The menu was sung to us and we were surprised by the variety of the menu: only 2 first courses and 2 main courses.
- Red beans.
- Menestra.
- Squid.
- Veal fillet.
We opted for the red beans and the veal steak. We were presented with a good bean casserole, with a good quantity, as if it were a single dish. The sauce was fatty and with a lot of beans, but we did not find many “sacraments”, only bacon, it caught our attention but they were good, it was just a small scare.
The veal fillet, accompanied by red peppers and potatoes, correct, good flavor and texture.
It was time for dessert, they sang us the desserts and it occurred to us to ask the unconscious question… are any of the desserts homemade? The girl answered us with a smile from ear to ear and a single word, ALL of them. We went with the homemade custard, a hit.
Regarding the service, the time between courses and the atmosphere as always 10, a traditional village restaurant where the service is always correct. The price of the menu was 11,5€, a price with an adequate value for money that we paid with pleasure.
As a conclusion of our stay, we can say that the menu of the day of the restaurant Bidebieta is good, but we stayed with the usual dishes, it is worth stretching a little more, pay the 50 € that can go out to eat a la carte and enjoy the authentic dishes of Bidebieta.
