The Urbasa restaurant has become a classic in the town of Zamudio in Bizkaia, a simple restaurant without much fanfare, where some of the most common dishes of our gastronomy are still served. This Zamudioztarra restaurant is famous among the workers of the Txorierri Valley (Derio, Larrabetzu, Lezama, Loiu, Sondika and Zamudio) for preparing typical dishes of our gastronomy using a great variety of local products. The Urbasa Restaurant is only open on working days at noon, a clear commitment to focus on offering the highest quality to the workers of the Txorierri Valley.

Establishment: The old 3-storey building that occupies this restaurant in the urban center of Zamudio, next to the road, the train station and the town hall, in the middle of the Camino de Santiago route, makes it an easy to find restaurant, with good communications and where you can park without any problem. Essential requirements for all those who have limited time to eat.

The establishment is flanked by 2 parking lots, both with direct access to the restaurant. The main one, small, at the roadside. The secondary one, with a larger capacity, at the rear. Although it is common to find free spaces in either of them, it is usually more difficult to find a space in the side parking lot.

Upon entering, a small portal welcomes us, to the left the bar, to the right the central dining room, our destination. The dining room, occupied by wooden tables and chairs, like those of yesteryear, perfectly fulfills its mission, as I said, without great fanfare, clean and practical. The building, old and with solera, without rehabilitating, is not one of the strong points of the Urbasa Restaurant. But it is not surprising, the current Municipal Urban Plan indicates this structure as one of those that must be demolished to make way for new urban demands. Why rehabilitate it if at any moment a bulldozer can demolish the work of a lifetime?

Our choice: Regular diners have the daily choices memorized, but they all highlight the house specialties, apuntad, paella on Wednesdays and alubiada on Thursdays. We opt for one of them, alubiada, red beans with abundant sacraments.

The menu of the day of the Urbasa restaurant always consists of first, second, dessert and drink, even with its typical alubiada. For the first course we must choose red beans, beans that are only accompanied by a piece of chorizo. For the second course, sacramentos, a dish that, if you want it, you can ask to be served with the beans, thus obtaining a proper alubiada, a must in our opinion. This was our choice and this was our opinion: red beans, larger than what we are used to, but with a good taste and texture. More of the same as far as the sauce is concerned, basic. Varied sacraments, of good quality and without skimping on quantity. And of course, accompanied by some spicy chili peppers. In short, a bean stew as God commands at the price of the menu of the day.

Service: Fast, efficient, experienced, from home. Little else to comment. As an example, we should point out that after completely emptying the pot of beans that we had before us, they even offered to repeat the beans on two more occasions, a small gesture that is always appreciated. This establishment has more than 25 years of experience behind it, a time in which they have worked very hard to maintain regularity in the aspects most appreciated by their customers: speed, quality, friendliness and good price.

Price: 11,50€ VAT included. An adequate cost, similar to the rest of the restaurants in the area. If we merge the cost of the service and the quality of it, we get a very good value for money, one of the best we have found in the vicinity of the Zamudio Technology Park so far.

Other services: Urbasa restaurant complements its restaurant service with other services such as catering, sandwiches, sandwiches, burgers or online orders. Although we have not tried these products, we are sure that they will not disappoint.
