Among all of them we recommend the route from the port of Zierbena. A corner with a lot of charm that we encourage you to visit after the route. From here, we must ascend along the road that passes next to the batzoki until we reach Kaiko frontoia.<\/li>\n<li>Between the fronton and the housing block, we find a narrow path that ascends to a concrete track. At this point we must turn right, we continue climbing.<\/li>\n<li>After walking about 300 meters we find another detour, this time we turn left.<\/li>\n<li>We continue climbing another 900 meters until we pass by some electrical installations. It is here, where we must turn right again.<\/li>\n<li>After 1.5km we reach a point where we must choose between continuing along the track to reach the barracks of Punta Lucero or turn right next to an old military checkpoint to ascend to the top. Although both paths lead to the Punta Lucero batteries, they have nothing to do with each other. Since then, trenches, watchtowers and other defensive structures have been present at the top of Punta Lucero. But this area did not gain prominence until years before the Civil War (1936 &#8211; 1939). It was then when the old trenches were rebuilt to create the Iron Belt. A key structure in the fall of Bilbao. But the 4 Krupp 150mm cannons that we find today do not belong to the fortifications of the Iron Belt. Although Franco&#8217;s troops kept the old tanks (howitzers) operational, in the early 1940s they were replaced by what we find today to protect the coast from a hypothetical invasion by sea. A battery that was deactivated at the end of the 70s.
