The Arditurri mines have seen hundreds of generations pass through their galleries in their struggle to obtain the riches hidden in this soil. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"box shadow  \"><div class=\"box-inner-block\"><i class=\"fa tie-shortcode-boxicon\"><\/i>\n            \n<h2><strong>10 reasons to visit the Arditurri mines<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">\n            <\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong>: In the regions of Oarsoaldea (Oiartzun, Errenteria, Pasaia and Lezo) and Bidasoa (Irun and Hondarribia) we find one of the most visited Natural Parks in the whole Basque Country, the Aiako Harria Natural Park. It is part of the Pyrenean Mountain Range and stands as one of the oldest formations in the Basque Country. Inside, we find the Arditurri Mines, dozens of kilometers of galleries that await your visit.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"google-map \"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"\" height=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" marginheight=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d1553.7602961798773!2d-1.8069078402103853!3d43.283856702155276!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x0%3A0x7870409719d0b6b!2sArditurri!5e1!3m2!1ses!2sus!4v1445103422056&amp;output=embed\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>History: <\/strong>Although the most important findings indicate that its first exploitation took place during the Roman Empire, some remains found in the area lead us to believe that the activity of these galleries may even predate this period.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4762\" style=\"width: 628px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/turismovasco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Minas-Arditurri.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4762\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4762\" src=\"http:\/\/turismovasco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Minas-Arditurri-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Arditurri Mines\" width=\"618\" height=\"464\" srcset=\"https:\/\/turismovasco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Minas-Arditurri-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/turismovasco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Minas-Arditurri-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4762\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Arditurri Mines<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"box info  \"><div class=\"box-inner-block\"><i class=\"fa tie-shortcode-boxicon\"><\/i>\n            <\/p>\n<p><strong>The history of the Arditurri mines can be broken down into 9 major groups:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Roman Age:<\/strong> Probably, the Romans, the men of the Iron Age, were the first to break the rock of the Arditurri mines in search of silver.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Middle Ages:<\/strong> Following the work done in Roman times, in the Middle Ages the first forges began to be created around the river that runs through the valley.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>XVIII Century:<\/strong> The Sein family, settled in Oiartzun, took the reins of Arditurri, then without activity, which roared again to obtain silver and lead under the supervision of the German engineer Juan Guillermo Thalacker.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>XIX Century:<\/strong> In 1830 the Gipuzkoan Mining Company began to exploit Arditurri, and it was at this time that most of the galleries created in previous periods were destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>XX Century:<\/strong> The Chavarri Hermanos de Bilbao Company, owner of Altos Hornos de Bizkaia, obtained the concession of these mines and began to exploit them with the help of the railroad that they had built and which is currently a very busy Greenway.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>1984:<\/strong> In this year the Arditurri Mines ceased their activity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>2001-2006:<\/strong> The mines contributed to the development of rural areas but also damaged them by dumping heavy minerals and waste into their rivers. It was at this time that environmental reclamation work was carried out. <\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>2008, to the present:<\/strong> In 2008 the Arditurri mines were opened to the public, adding value to 800 meters of gallery of the Arditurri mining reserve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the 1970s:<\/strong> Trends change and open-pit quarrying begins.<\/p>\n<p>\n            <\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Galleries:<\/strong> The absence of light and noise in the galleries of Arditurri allow us to play with our senses.
